Part 1 of this series described the basic mission of the Better Business Bureau (BBB). In Part 2, we take a look at some of the Bureau’s specific services.
The Better Business Bureau serves as a valuable source of information for consumers. The organization’s website at http://www.bbb.org provides extensive information about fraud and current scams, including a library of videos, information about safe online shopping, a program for parents, and an auto warranty dispute resolution program.
A search allows consumers to check the BBB database for reviews of businesses. The website also features a list of reputable nonprofit organizations to help donors ensure they are providing money to ethical, financially responsible organizations. Consumers can also register complaints on the BBB website.
Because the Better Business Bureau is a private corporation, it has no regulatory power over businesses, and participation is voluntary. The Bureau has no connection to any local, state, or national governmental agency. In order to maintain objectivity, the BBB provides no specific recommendations or endorsements of any specific business.
Established in 2002, WEI Mortgage Corporation is a mortgage brokerage company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. Rated “A” by the Better Business Bureau, the company prides itself on its recognition as a model of accuracy, efficiency, and integrity in residential lending.
